Multi-Track Launch Party feat. TRIM

Venue: Thekla
Date: Tue 4 Apr 2017
Time: 19:00

1800-Dinosaur artist, Trim, brings his distinctive and inimitable sound to Multi-Track’s Launch Party. Previously a member of the seminal grime collective Roll Deep, and with more recent collaborations with James Blake under his belt, Trim is rapidly evolving from an influential grime originator to a highly regarded leftfield figure within the scene.

Support from ‘Blazey Bodynod’s Bristol Showcase’ feat. Cheese & Bread (Jay0117, Dimpson, & Slowie)

PLUS Urban Development presents: Industry Takeover – ‘New Wave New Rules! Analysing The Rise Of UK Urban Music’. This industry panel discussion will take place at 7pm before the gig begins.

Speakers have been announced as:

  • Laura ‘Hyperfrank’ Brosnan – Journalist (Complex Magazine UK)
  • Anthony Layiwola – Artist Manager (BaseNRebulz)
  • Teddy and Tank – Producers (The Heavytrackerz)
  • Blazey – DJ & Promoter (Bodynod)

Trim is a genuine one-off. Immediately recognisable for his lopsided flow and witty lyrical approach, seamlessly blending everyday observations with surreal humour. Within his self-defined world, Trim’s lyrics and flow are able to cut across genres, a rare versatility which has made him a uniquely adaptable presence as an MC.

First becoming involved with music during grime’s early days Trim was inspired by the fiercely energetic nature of the music that was being channelled from the pirate stations. Recording with Roll Deep in 2003, contributing to hits such as ‘When I’m Ere’ and ‘Heat Up’, he has since released a string of acclaimed mixtapes – including the raw and raucous Soul Food volumes. He has commented to the Guardian that “mixtapes are all about challenging myself and experimenting. There are lots of sides to me, musically and as a person. This is a way for me to get all of that out there and show people what I can do.”

During 2016, Trim put out his first solo album through 1-800 Dinosaur, run by collaborator James Blake. He has been heavily supported by Gilles Peterson on his BBC 6Music show which led to him being featured at 2017’s Worldwide Awards.
